Phineas Gage

Picture
Title:  Phineas Gage

Author:   John Fleischman

Genres:  Non fiction/ biography                                                         Lili Smith

In 1840 Phineas Gage, a rail rode worker, had an accident that led to the discovery of the human brain.  Phineas, the ferman, had an explosive accident, but despite the fact he had an open brain injury he survived.  He had a “complete recovery”, and went to have many jobs and travel the world.  Phineas changed what people thought about the brain, but it did not just change us but it changed him forever.

The theme is about luck.  Phineas G. in the author’s opinion is that he was lucky, I agree with the author.  I think that Phineas was lucky, because I see luck as something that happens once in a while because luck does not happen every day.  When you walk up you don’t have money falling from the sky.  Like Phineas he still had bad luck.  He got up with a hole in his head everyday, but he didn’t act like the world is going to end.  He stayed the same.

I thought this book was ok.  Some parts I liked, but some I didn’t.  I liked the part when they would talk and you would fell like you were there.  Also I liked the pictures because they were three dimensional.  I didn’t like some parts because they were slow.  I would give this three stares because some parts I didn’t like, I would recommend this to my little brother Jace, because he loves things about the brain and mostly explosives.
